My Name

Write my name on the sand

of a beach which is

notorious for its violent waves.

Write my name along the shoreline

from the tip of your big toe,

my name that cannot leave your lips

my name that no one can know.

Write it on a day when

the storms hit the ocean,

when the rain, too, is the most merciless.

Write it once and watch it being washed away

slowly

like I have been slowly erased.

When the sand takes the shapes of the waves and

pretend as if nothing had ever

existed besides its

ability for umpteenth fresh starts -

look for yourself in it

and move on from my name.
